A Book to Preserve the Memory of the Landings
In 1924, Landingslaget published a 319-page book, Landings-Bogen. This commemorative volume features more than 60 images, along with an introduction, author biography, and an index. This blue hardcover book is 6″ wide, 8¾” tall, and ¾” thick.
The book was written in Norwegian by Peter S. Waslien and printed by Anundsen Publishing Company, Decorah, Iowa.
The book was created to preserve for future generations the memories of the emigrant Landings and how their families took root in American soil. At their 1922 meeting in Fargo, the Landings elected a three-man committee (Ole O. Walhovd, C. M. Pederson, and P. S. Waslien) to carry out the work.
Most of the book is biographies of families, followed by histories of Landings settlements, essays, legends, and songs.

Table of Contents
The sections below list everything contained in the 1924 edition of Landings-Bogen. Many entries are followed by a percentage in parentheses, shown in italics. This figure indicates the relative size of that section compared to the whole book. For example, the Biographies make up roughly 63% of the book, while “A Glimpse at Lands Bygderne” accounts for about 5%. Sections marked “<1%” are very short, each less than one percent of the total. Entries without a percentage, such as the individual letter groupings under Biographies or the year-by-year entries under “The Earliest Emigration from Torpa,” are subdivisions whose size is included in the percentage of the section above them. Because the figures are approximate and rounded, they may not add up to exactly 100%.
