Vestoppland Genealogical Society Journal

The Vestoppland Genealogical Society Journal (Vestoppland Slektshistorielags Tidskrift) is published quarterly by the Vestoppland Genealogical Society and has been in continuous publication since the 1980s. In addition to its regular issues, the society has produced a number of special editions, including volumes devoted to census records and similar source material from Vestoppland. The journal contains a wide range of content of interest to genealogists, including family studies, church history, probate records, research guidance, questions and answers, wanted notices, and news from the society.

Vestoppland is a traditional district in Innlandet, Norway. The translated name means Western Uplands and stems from a time when the district was the western part of the Uplands. It now consists of the districts Land, Hadeland, Toten, Valdres, and Gjøvik (which itself consists of Gjøvik city and Tverrdalene).

For many years, Landingslag was a member of the Vestoppland Genealogical Society (Vestoppland Slektshistorielag) and received its journals. These publications are written in Norwegian; the article titles listed on this page have been translated into English by Landingslag. Landingslag no longer maintains a Vestoppland Genealogical Society membership and therefore no longer receives new issues. The journals previously held by Landingslag have been transferred to the Norway House and are available through that organization. Please refer to the Norway House Bygdelag Special Collections Room web page for information on accessing these materials. The Year-#-Page nomenclature used in the index below represents the year of publication, journal number (1–4), and the page number of the associated article.

Use the Search box below to quickly filter the table for specific information. For example, type ‘1994-3’ to see only entries from 1994, Journal 3, or ‘Torpa’ to see entries with that location in the title.
